Tienertoneelfees (Eng)

The Klein Libertas Theatre will host the 19th Tienertoneelfees from 11 to 15 August 2026. Your drama group is warmly invited to participate. The festival aims to provide learners with performance opportunities and to improve the quality of their work with the help of professional feedback.

This year, the festival will once again be held at the Drostdy Theatre (corner of Alexander and Bird Streets, Stellenbosch). Tickets to watch the performances will be available via Webtickets and will cost R20 per performance for adults and R10 per performance for learners, students, and pensioners.

Entries close on 28 May 2026, and the entry fee is R400 per production. Please ensure that the correct contact details of the person responsible for each group are completed on the form, as all correspondence with participants will be conducted via email. A schedule regarding performance times will be emailed to the directors and contact persons of the productions by 4 June 2026.

Existing or newly written Afrikaans and English texts may be performed, but only newly written Afrikaans texts will be eligible for a trophy award. The prize-giving for the festival’s top productions will take place on 15 August 2026 after the final performance. The best production of the festival will be given the opportunity to perform at the 2027 Suidooster Festival.
